Viola speaks exclusively to Variety in regards to the Harvey Weinstein situation

Viola Davis has added her name to those publicly speaking out against Harvey Weinstein as dozens come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against the movie mogul.

Davis wrote in a statement to Variety, The predator wants your silence. It feeds their power, entitlement AND they want it to feed your shame.

Our bodies are not the spoils of war a trophy to be collected to fuel your ego, she went on. Its OURS!!! It doesnt belong to you!! And when you take it without permission, it DESTROYS like a virus!!!

To the predators.. Weinstein, the stranger, the relative, the boyfriend. I say to you, You can choose your sin but you dont get to choose the consequences. To the victims. I see you. I believe you and Im listening, she concluded.

On Tuesday, the New Yorker published a bombshell article alleging that Weinstein sexually assaulted multiple women. Following that report, Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie told the New York Times that Weinstein had sexually harassed them at points during their career.

Tuesdays developments follow the New York Times original expos last Thursday, in which the publication detailed dozens of accusations of sexual harassment against Weinstein. Weinstein was forced out of his own company on Sunday.

Davis is only the latest celebrity to speak out against Weinstein, joining the ranks of Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Hillary Clinton, Ben Affleck, George Clooney, and many more.
